HARD DRIVE SHORTAGE 2021
In this Video we take a look at a potential likelihood of a tough drive scarcity coming in 2021with the influence that Chia is having on the exhausting drive inventory.

This is awful. Just bought a 4TB performance Toshiba drive for $90. I don’t want to mine on it, my 2TB drive was just getting on and showing early signs of failure. I also have a 6 year old Samsung 240gb SSD thats still on 94% health. 10 year warranty, and I plan on using it for plenty of years to come.
The idea of having a drive go out and not being able to replace it because of this is absolutely infuriating. To these crypto startups, please just switch it to be a proof of space model where you cant access a given area of a hard drive. It would reduce on e-Waste by a ton and alleviate some of these market conditions. Just dont actually take this down such a retarded path.
Just wait till Linus Tech Tips new video. “How to Make Free Money With Your Hard Drive” Then we’ll have a big shortage
I predict lot of people will loose their money on 3rd of May lol
I started plotting on a 4TB HDD but it is taking me a while since i don't have any SSD available for temporary space lol
I'm not too serious about it, i'm just using old 5900RPM NAS drives i have laying around, i might have 24TB but i will never be able to fill them with plots without a good SSD lol
Happy midweek my brother 🙂
I often check supplies of enterprise class hard drives as i am filling out another vdev in my NAS storage. Drives are no longer "in stock" but are now BACKORDERED…and these are SAS drives most non-industrusers don't use
I see this as a money loser that is not power friendly. I do understand hard drives, particularly setting up server raid arrays, quite well. This is going to create supply headaches for system administrators and force distributors to make allocations in the short term. I see this quickly dropping in revenue to a loss over a period of a year. I don't see the use case for chia. I'm focused on Helium mining because I do understand radio and mesh networks. Now they are getting into 5G I think Helium networks will become more widely adopted. There is also a very low cost to entry when compared to chia or gpu mining. Buyers beware. Those large slow 18TB hard drives will wear out fast and the enterprise drives will be allocated. Invest in what you know and if you don't understand the cost on entry and what it takes for sustainable revenue, avoid it.
Hoping for the first reward soon!

Are they using the Externals for their operations?
how often should we think about cleaning the grapichs cards?
The mining addiction is a problem. Can't get GPU fix hard drives are next. I am an addict
Nice info @rabid mining! Appreciate it brother
Already in the process of plotting 150tb, get em while you can lads.
