CPU MINING
In this video I strive a preliminary take a look at with a 300w PICO as CPUs can hit as much as 200+ watts want one thing that may deal with the facility. If this take a look at goes good I might be hooking as much as 6 CPU Mining rigs onto a single 1200w Server PSU and eliminating them ATX that we’ve for every single rig.

Rabid can you put link whwre to buy this adapter from like stereo jak pico power cable to 2 wired cables?
I just wanted to say thanks I was watching some of your videos and finally found it SINCERELY JERRY
found a atx 24 pin 2 way splitter 1 female to 2 male was wondering if its whould be ok to use and a moded gpu 8 pin to a cpu plug
Great idea
Not the best choice of the pico PSU, quite messy and also the wiring is less than ideal.
One of the things is that you use one pair which is pushing it, contact is rated at 9A(108W), you're running 6A(displayed by the server PSU)
If you want better solution hit me on misfit discord, though soldering is involved.
I am a miner too from INDIA but yeah this month is really bringing crazy alien kind tech to all the miners
I have seen this adapter on chumpchange's video but he ignored that 2.5 mm connector saying its not safe and here we go rabid uses it i am freakin confused π
Them cheap barrel plugs will not handle the current please get rid of them
there is a reason you have 2 red wires and 2 black wires. you need to run 2 in 2 out man….
USA, good stuff.
just why!? if the profits are that low.. do something else..
I honestly would not trust those 300W PICO connectors lol
You should definitely invest in some tools in order to make sure these PICO connectors can really sustain the advertised power for a long period of time because this could turn out real quick in a real fire hazard nightmare.
When it comes to CPU mining, i personally think ATX PSU is the only way to go, you barely need a 450W PSU in most case scenario, those are still selling dirt cheap π
Happy midweek my brother and please stay safe <3
Can you suggest coins that are worth mining with CPU? I tried XMR and was not profitable.
Awesome mate. ππΌ have to get you a pin extractor kit though. π those wires can be re-used on another project.
Still waiting to get all my parts in for my build, but have already started ordering parts for the second build. π€πΌ
Some changes to think about.. Nothing major, but it's how I did basically the same.
– Solder the wires together from the 6/8pin pcie to the DC side of the PICO. I cut the DC jack off, no need for that fire hazard, they melt at 12v 2A on CCTV cameras all the time.. Make sure you common ground the green wire that has the screw hole in the end to the chassis! This will be for surge protection too! Fun side note: access control systems IMMIEDIATELY lose warranty if you don't have ground (Most of them are DC based @ 12V).
-Personally, if keeping the 6pin wires and just cutting out that DC jack, mine have run great for months. I use the exact same breakout AMP board on my 2, soon to be 3 rigs. We all know how much current those 16GA PCIe plugs handle, I just won't trust the DC barrel jacks ever, especially with the 20 for 5.00 screw terminals. All it takes is one mistaken ramp up of the LLC when changing algos on the mobo to go from 150A to 200A and how many times can those jacks take the heat? Not as much as leaded solder and 4 more wires can IMO.
– Forget what people say about these PICOs, they seem very durable, mine have run in a garage for 6 months without issue. Directly tied to my AMP boards, during brown outs, my stupidity, and even overclocking! Not many people know that all but something like 3 brand of Caps are made in china, and so are MOST of the caps and chokes on mobos.. Along with the IR/TI VDC Regulators… Yes they're more expensive, but the DC-DC conversion definitely helps if you've already got 1200w or 750w P+ HP/Dell PSUs..
Thanks for making me spend more on CPUs instead of only GPUs! From 1 2700x, to 2 2700x, and this week a third 3900x. π Super hopeful RTM keeps up, keep up the good pace and work! I love the new angles to mining, its not just "buy the expensive 3080TI-LR-HasherMax" concept.
Thatβs a pretty cool set up ππ½
I have a question though about standard atx psus.
Some come with two cpu slots and cables, can you then run power to two seperate boards that way if you use a 24pin splitter as well?
Just asking because Iβm only planning on setting up two dedicated CPU mining rigs. ππ½
rx 6600 came out today, will you be doing a video on the card?
i like the raptorium project.. but i will wait for the gpu miner.. they are in development..
Nice content. With everyone being so GPU crazy, howcome you have such a passion for CPU Mining?
Hi Rabid Mining, i saw in the vid that you have msi motherboard. How i can boot to hiveos without gpu(always stuck with VGA bug light)? I have R5 3600. I also have asus and gigabyte mb. They can post to hiveos without any gpu.
I got into rtm thanks to you (thank you :))so this is my way of contributing back, this setup poses a serious FIRE HAZARD especially on the 4 pin power feed to the pico and the small adapters connecting to the psu.
Head on to parallel miners and get proper mobo pico board for server psu. (you can connect several of them in parallel) and be safe..also if you are going to connect 5-6 rigs I recommend getting 1200w server psu..and stay below the 80% as Ryzen X tend to peak from time to time..even with the 1v mobo setting.
What happens if you leave the six pins on both sides of the six pin connector from the breakout board to the motherboard?
The PICO iv very very expensive, build with some crappy SMD electrolytic capacitors… the worst choice in electronic components
Hey Rabid, took me a while to find you after youtube killed your channel, glad to see youre back. Looking to add my 8 rig system to your pool after next week. Keep up the great content man.
π₯π₯π₯
I was gonna run all of mine off a server psu but I donβt wanna listen to it lol
yeah i need some shopping therapy !
Whats the power rating on the pico power input?
This pico is expensive its about 30$ .. i can buy 500w psu with 30$ .. so its not worth buying
Wouldnβt it make far more sense to just solder all the wires directly to the pico instead of ripping them out and only using two??
