To do or not to do, that is the question
They arent stupid.
They create LHR to keep the heat off themselves to join the blame the miner pack.
Only offer its partners the chip as direct sales are most important as miners are more likely to buy multiple at rrp instead of nvidia having to discount half made products to its partners in bulk, the chip they buy is the most expensive part, if that goes up in price rrp sales would wipe out discount wholesale sales.
I'm dying to see how the gamer tubes are gonna try to spin this. The narrative that miners bad gamers good is such a disservice to the whole community. Yeah, I got an overpriced GPU but guess what? I mined and paid off the card and the rest of my rig. But you won't ever see the big-time game tubes or magazines talk about those things

Nvidia is failing so hard on marketing this year, miners and gamers are both upset about it.

I'm still buying their LHR cards if I can get them at retail. I just wish they would stop trying to paint the picture that they are for gamers and blah blah blah, let's get this straight, you are a company who's sole purpose is to turn a profit for the investors (since they are publicly traded) and I intend to make money as well, only reason I even buy NVidia cards is to make money, they have slightly less initial cost in general, and more hash per watt in general, making them better purely from a profit perspective. However, I buy AMD gpu's whenever I can because the company is a lot more transparent and appears to be less greedy. AMD tends to be more matter of fact about things, I appreciate that, NVidia is all smoke and mirrors. It get's really old having someone lie to your face over and over when both sides of the lie know it's just that… a lie… seems like kind of a slap in the face that they think I could be so naïve as to believe that sewage.

Pretty much what I expected from Nvidia from beginning being a publicly traded company on Nasdaq. Their business/marketing teams would have opposed the idea of fixing “what ain’t broken” from a revenue perspective. Opportunity loses would upset shareholders big time. Point being, once you go public, there are limitations introduced, as compared to private companies. That being said, they probably would support their partners implementing LHR on their gpu’s
